CAUSES OF GLOBAL WARMING

1. POWER GENERATION

A large chunk of global emissions come from the generation of electricity and heat. This is because, their creation is closely related to the burning of fossil fuels, such as coal, oil and natural gas. Most of the electricity that people enjoy is produced through fossil fuels, while only a quarter comes from wind energy, solar energy and other sources (United Nation).

2. DEFORESTATION

The cutting down of trees, for the creation of farms, pastures and other commodities, proves to be quite hazardous for the environment as it limits nature’s ability to rid of the harmful emissions within the atmosphere. Furthermore, the mass destruction of forests causes the trees to release carbon dioxide that they have been storing, resulting in further pollution (United Nations).

3. USE OF TRANSPORTATION

Transportation can be seen as one of the greatest contributors to greenhouse gasses. The vastly used cars, lorries, ships and planes run on fossil fuels and thus emit great amounts of carbon dioxide, polluting the atmosphere to a greater extent (United Nation).

4. MANUFACTURING GOODS

Manufactured goods, such as electronics, Steel. Iron, cement, clothes and plastic, are also some of the major contributors to producing harmful emissions in order to create energy. It was due to the dawn of the industrial revolution, that the world began experiencing such drastic and devastating changes. Other industrial processes, such as mining also involve harmful gas emissions (United Nations).

5. ACCESS CONSUMPTION

A person’s home, the amount of electricity they use, their method of transportation and their wastage of food and other commodities (plastic, electronics and clothing), all contribute to greenhouse gas emissions that only help further the issue at hand.
